Entanglement entropy is a natural geometric concept in quantum field theory. A widely used method to compute it is the replica trick. This promotes the connection between entropy and geometry, defining entanglement as the response to the addition of extra space, through a conical excess. AdS/CFT geometrises field theory, making entanglement entropy 100% geometric. I will describe some aspects of the holographic gravity dual of entanglement entropy and the replica trick, and new geometric lessons that can be learned about entropy both in gravity and in conformal field theory.

This talk is part of the Relativity and Cosmology/Strings joint seminar series.
